As of January 1, 2005, all persons born after January 1, 1984, who operate any vessel on the lakes of the state of Missouri must have on board his/her boating safety identification card issued by the Missouri State Water Patrol (MSWP). The Missouri State Water Patrol will also accept a driver license or nondriver license with the Boater Identification indicator in lieu of carrying a photo ID and the Boating Safety Education Card. This card allows boating in Missouri. The Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card is proof that you have successfully completed all the education requirements. The Missouri State Water Patrol Division ensures boating and water safety through enforcement of Missouri’s watercraft laws and boating regulations.
